Underpinning Construction - Schnabel


 

Underpinning can also be used to strengthen and increase the load carrying capacity of an existing foundation of a building or other structure. This may be required when the usage of the building has changed or the structure’s original foundation is no longer stable or strong enough.

Anchored Retaining Walls: How Do Tiebacks Work?

Tiebacks are used to provide the lateral resisting force for many of the excavation support systems and anchored retaining walls that Schnabel builds. They are constructed by grouting a high strength steel bar or strand bundle into the soil or rock behind the failure surface of the retaining wall.
